BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Wednesday feared that another 1/11-like conspiracy is being hatched for depoliticisation.
“The 1/11 plot is over. Now another conspiracy is around. This plot can’t be removed without launching a movement. I would like to tell our party men not to fall into the conspiracy trap by betraying our party and its chief,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion, he further said, “No conspiracy can grasp us, if we remain united. The conspirators will eventually be eliminated making efforts to annihilate us.”
Democratic Movement, a pro-BNP platform arranged the programme titled ‘Plot and 1/11 Regime’ at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 10th anniversary of 1/11 political changeover.
Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, said the current government will not hold the trial of the masterminds of 1/11 as it is the beneficiary of the political changeover taken police in 2007.
He, however, warned that the architects of the 1/11 will surely be put on trial when a pro-people government will be installed.
Speaking at the programme, Dhaka University ex-VC Prof Emajuddin Ahmed said the 1/11 political changeover was nothing but a military coup. “This day should be observed as a black day.”
Speaking at another discussion, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said 1/11 is a stigmatised day in the nation’s history as it took place as part of a plot to destroy democracy through depoliticisation. “But, it’s unfortunate that after the 10 years of 1/11, we’re now seeing a different process of depoliticisation.”
As the continuation of the 1/11 plot, he said a plan is now being implemented to eliminate the country’s largest party and its ideology.
Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Jote arranged the programme at Kochi Kachar Mela auditorium in the city marking the second anniversary of noted filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam.
About the government’s countrywide development fair, Fakhrul said Ayub Khan in 1968 had observed the decade of development, but he was ousted a year later.
“History never forgave any one. People won’t forgive those who are now destroying democracy, the rule of law and snatching people’s all rights, including voting one,” he added.
